Want to know what it takes to cook food fit for a queen? How about The Queen?
Wonder no longer, because the chefs at Buckingham Palace have released a new cookery book sharing the secrets of the royal family's favourite recipes.
'Real Teas: Seasonal recipes from Buckingham Palace' was written by the royal chef, Mark Flanagan, and the royal pastry chef, Kathryn Cuthbertson, and enables readers to try their hands at royal recipes at home.
England's love of a traditional afternoon tea inspired the book, which features 40 sweet and savoury royal recipes ranging from Victoria sponge to show-stopping, gold leaf topped creations; many of which are served to guests at official functions or are favourites from The Queen's garden parties.
The book is organised seasonally to highlight the Royal Kitchen's focus on fresh seasonal produce from the UK. Recipes include autumn wild mushroom vol-au-vents and summer berry tartlets.
The royal recipe book even includes instructions on how to make Her Majesty's drop scones, which she made and served to President Eisenhower. He was said to have enjoyed them so much on a visit to Balmoral that the Queen sent him the recipe.
Fancy trying your hand at a recipe or two yourself? Then you're in luck! The Royal Collection themselves have been kind enough to share a couple of recipes with us so that we can all eat royally delicious food at home.
