  1. Place tomatoes, lentils, beans and chilli in a large saucepan

  2. Simmer over a medium-high heat for about 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened slightly

  3. Stir shallots or onions, leaving a few to sprinkle on the top

  4. Taste and season, adding a little more chilli if it needs it


  • 2x400g tinned tomatoes
  • 400g tinned lentils, drained
  • 400g tinned red kidney beans, drained
  • 1-2tsps chilli powder
  • 3tbsps fried onions or shallots, finely sliced
