He’s the Great British Bake Off contestant who captured the nation’s heart and now Selasi Gbormittah is offering one lucky pair the chance to have dinner with him – and yes, he’s doing the cooking!
The star of last year’s Bake Off will prepare a delicious three-course meal in London (travel expenses up to £200 and overnight accommodation included) to help promote a new fundraising appeal for international children’s charity, World Vision. The charity’s Share a Meal appeal encourages everyone to organise a meal for friends and family and collect donations at the same time. The aim? To raise £200,000 to improve the lives of vulnerable children in Uganda.
To enter the Share A Meal competition, you’ll need to share a photo of your feast on Instagram, tag @worldvisionuk in the picture, and add the hashtag #shareameal. It’s as simple as that. And with the contributions from your dinner guests, you’ll be helping World Vision reach their target.
If you need a bit of inspiration for your dinner party, add a little zest to your Tuesday night by tuning into the latest series of Bake Off. Selasi says, “Cooking for others is fun but I’ll let you into a secret – sometimes even I don’t know what dish to bake. Great British Bake Off is hotting up now. Watching it could give you a great idea for serving up a culinary delight to your friends and family”
Selasi joined the Share A Meal campaign after he travelled with World Vision to Uganda in East Africa where he cooked for hungry families on one of the world’s biggest refugee settlements. Over half a million child refugees from South Sudan now live in Uganda, many of whom fled after their parents were killed in a brutal civil war back home.
Selasi was heartbroken by some of the stories of the child refugees he met. He says, “Many arrive alone after walking for weeks through the bush. World Vision is doing amazing work to give these kids a better future, but there is so much more that can be done.”
