Zara Tindall has confessed she rarely gets a "stern look" from her grandmother the Queen, as the pair are famously close.

Zara Tindall has confessed she's always in the Queen's good books and rarely gets a stern look from her grandmother.

Princess Anne's daughter - who recently gave birth to her third child, Lucas - previously opened up about her relationship with the Queen on the House of Rugby podcast, hosted by Alex Payne, James Haskell and Zara's husband Mike Tindall.

When asked if she's ever on the receiving end of one of the Queen's "stern" looks, Zara confessed, "I always get the good look. We are okay. I think we are alright."

But that's not to say she's not received one of them over the years.

"Probably when we were much younger, but not recently, definitely not.," she explained.

Zara and the Queen have always been close due to their shared love of all things equestrian, with Zara having won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic games as a member of the British equestrian team.

A royal expert once revealed, "The Queen has always adored Zara and is so proud of her riding success.

"They have a lot in common as they talk horses and the Queen has invested in several horses for her."

With Princess Anne's children never being given royal titles, Ingrid Seward - Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine - claims the Queen always felt she can be more relaxed around Zara and Peter Phillips.

"I think the Queen is closest to Zara and Peter as they were her first grandchildren and have always been the favourites," Ingrid revealed.

Mike Tindall revealed the couple were at home when Zara unexpectedly went into labour early and just hours later Lucas was born.

Speaking on his rugby podcast, The Good, The Bad, The Rugby, Mike explained, "Sunday got even better because a little boy arrived at my house...arrived very quickly. Didn't make it to hospital. On the bathroom floor."

He weighed a healthy 8Ib 4oz.
