Why Kate Middleton’s big day might see her look to Prince George for support
Kate Middleton's big day will see her attend her first Rugby League World Cup matches as patron of the Rugby Football League...

Kate Middleton’s big day might potentially see her look to Prince George and the young royal could end up enjoying a special outing with her.
- The Princess of Wales is the Patron of the Rugby Football League and will be watching the men’s and women’s England squads for the first time in Wigan on November 5.
- It’s not yet known if she’ll be going alone on this special day but it’s of course possible that her rugby-loving son Prince George could go with her.
- This royal news comes as Kate Middleton promised, 'I'm not going to steal your crisps!' in an adorable moment with a little royal fan.
On November 1 it was announced that the Princess of Wales will be at the DW Stadium in Wigan on Saturday November 5 in her capacity as the Rugby Football League’s Royal Patron. This will mark her first international rugby league world cup match watched in person since the future Queen Consort took over this patronage from her brother-in-law Prince Harry earlier this year. When the announcement of her becoming both RFL and Rugby Football Union patron came, Kate Middleton unveiled rugby talent as she spoke of her pride at the new roles in a video.
Now she will get to see the England squads in action, with the upcoming visit to the stadium a major occasion for Kate. And if previous sporting events are anything to go by, it could be that she’s joined by her eldest child Prince George.

The Chair of the RFL, Simon Johnson, has already expressed his joy at Kate Middleton's upcoming visit to Wigan.
“We will be delighted and honored to welcome the Princess of Wales for the first time as the RFL’s Royal Patron,” he declared. “With both our England Women and Men’s teams playing important World Cup matches on Saturday, her presence will enhance a special occasion for our sport, for the World Cup and for the famous Rugby League town of Wigan.”
During Kate Middleton’s big day at the stadium she will get to see the men’s England Rugby squad playing their quarter final match against Papua New Guinea. The senior royal will also see the women’s England Rugby squad facing Canada.
Given that this is an important sporting occasion and especially significant for the Princess of Wales as her first match of this kind as Patron of the RFL, she might attend alone. However, it’s of course possible that Prince George might enjoy a special day out with his mother as he's known to enjoy the sport and has previously accompanied her to an equally important match.

For her first Six Nations Rugby match since she became Patron of the Rugby Football Union, the Princess of Wales cheered on the England rugby union Six Nations squad from the stands and Kate Middleton’s rugby style was perfect for the occasion. But she wasn’t alone - Prince William was also there, supporting the Welsh team, of whom he’s Royal Patron, and they also brought Prince George.
Prince George, who is second in the royal line of succession, has also accompanied his parents to football matches in recent years. With the upcoming World Cup matches part of a similarly meaningful day for Kate Middleton, it might be that a bit of moral support from Prince George and the opportunity for him to enjoy some exciting sporting moments means his mother take him with her.
Either way, rugby and royal fans alike will no doubt be excited to see the Princess there cheering on the England squads.
