Princess Anne has honored Queen Elizabeth II with a poignant statement as she thanked every one who shares the Royal Family's sense of loss

Princess Anne has paid powerful tribute to her “dearest Mother” as she reflected on having the “privilege” of accompanying Queen Elizabeth on her “final journeys”.
- The Princess Royal has shared a statement as she remembers the Queen and expressed how humbled she is to see the “love and respect” shown to her late mother.
- Princess Anne said she was “fortunate” to share the last 24 hours of Her Majesty’s life with her.
- This royal news comes as it was revealed how Prince William and Princess Catherine are maintaining 'normality' for George, Charlotte, and Louis after the Queen's death.
Since the solemn announcement was made by Buckingham Palace on September 8 that Queen Elizabeth had died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, the Royal Family have been flooded with support and poignant messages from people across the world. In the days following Her Majesty’s passing, King Charles expressed the “greatest sadness” at his beloved mother’s loss, whilst the Prince of Wales described his “Grannie” as an “extraordinary leader”. His brother Prince Harry reflected on the Queen’s “infectious smile” and “sound advice” and now Princess Anne has paid powerful tribute to her “dearest Mother” with a new statement.
Shared on the Royal Family’s social media pages, the Princess Royal’s statement expressed gratitude at how she was able to share the last 24 hours of the Queen’s remarkable life with her.

“I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life. It has been an honor and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys,” Princess Anne movingly declared. “Witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting.”
The Queen’s only daughter went on to thank all those who have shared in the extended Royal Family’s immense sense of loss following Her Majesty’s passing.
Princess Anne continued, “We will all share unique memories. I offer my thanks to each and every one who share our sense of loss. We may have been reminded how much of her presence and contribution to our national identity we took for granted.”
“I am also so grateful for the support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the added responsibilities of The Monarch. To my mother, The Queen, thank you,” the Princess Royal concluded poignantly.
Princess Anne’s words have been met with outpourings of support and admiration from fans, with one describing her statement as “a beautiful tribute from a wonderful, loving daughter”. Others remarked upon her “beautiful words” as someone proclaimed she’d done her mother and brother, the King, proud.
Princess Anne accompanied Queen Elizabeth’s coffin as it traveled from Balmoral and then flew alongside it from Edinburgh to RAF Northolt and then on to Buckingham Palace. Her Majesty’s coffin was then received there by members of the Royal Family, including the King, Queen Consort and Prince and Princess of Wales.
The Queen’s coffin will be moved to Westminster Hall where it will lie in state until the monarch’s funeral service which will take place on Monday, September 19.
