The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been eyeing up a prep school in Berkshire for Prince George to attend when he finishes Thomas’s Battersea this summer.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are understood to be preparing Prince George for a move to the Home Counties.

The future King will finish at Thomas’s Battersea in summer and the current plan is for him to move to a prep school in Berkshire, with Lambrook near Ascot and Ludgrove School, where Prince Harry and Prince William both went, front runners.

As Prince William refuses to have Prince George go to boarding school, this would of course mean a level of upheaval for the family, who currently reside in Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall in Norfolk, with reports suggesting they are “eyeing up” properties in Windsor.

According to the Mail Online, an insider revealed, “It's an open secret the Cambridges are looking to settle in Berkshire and George is set to leave Thomas's this summer, unless circumstances suddenly change."

“It's the talk of the county and they will, of course, be made extremely welcome."

“They always put their children front and center of everything they do, so finding the right school has been a priority. It's about what works for them as a family.”

As well as the fact it appears to be a tradition within the family, we know that William and Kate have strong family ties to Berkshire as it’s where Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton are based.

With Windsor just a short drive from Kate’s family home in Bucklebury, it will suit the couple down to the ground to be so close to Carole and Michael, given Prince William's close relationship with the Middleton family.

A potential move to the Home Counties could mean the couple returns their formerly-gifted Norfolk-based home to the Queen, as it’s no longer the best option for the family.

“Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia and it was useful for Christmases at Sandringham, but it doesn’t really work anymore,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“It’s a little too far away for weekends, but Windsor is a perfect compromise. They are eyeing up options in the area.”
