Prime Minister Boris Johnson and wife Carrie Johnson are expecting their second child
The couple wed earlier this year and already have a son together
Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie are expecting their second child after she suffered a miscarriage just months ago.
Carrie announced on Instagram that they would be expecting a rainbow baby in December—explaining how she felt 'blessed', but also her past miscarriage had left her feeling like "a bag of nerves".
The couple wed in a secret ceremony in London in May only inviting a handful of close family and friends. In April 2020 they also welcomed their first son together, Wilfred.

The PM's wife posted a picture of a blue buggy Christmas decoration on her Instagram account, alongside a message.
She wrote, "Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas. At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken. I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I've also felt like a bag of nerves.
"Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well."
She carried on with, "I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experienced loss so I hope that in some very small way sharing this might help others too."

A rainbow baby is a baby born after a miscarriage, stillborn, or neonatal death. The term was created to signify the arrival of something beautiful after a storm.
Taking to Twitter Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer wished the expectant parents well and also shared his condolences for Carrie's miscarriage, adding that her honest words would comfort others in the same situation.
He said, "Congratulations to Carrie and Boris Johnson on the happy news that they’re expecting another child. I’m very sorry to hear of Carrie’s earlier miscarriage. I'm sure that her speaking out will be of comfort to others. Every best wish to them both."
This will be the second child for Carrie, but the seventh for Boris as he shares four children with his ex-wife Marina Wheeler and one with art consultant Helen Macintyre.
The couple wed in Westminster Abbey in May—then carried on the celebrations back at Downing Street. Carrie, who wore a gorgeous boho-inspired dress, had been engaged to the Prime minister since 2019.
