  • The TV adaption of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale has been causing waves ever since it hit American screens last month.

The modern remake of the terrifying dystopian thriller is currently being shown on American streaming service Hulu, and it’s fast become one of the most popular shows they’ve ever had on, with fans praising it for its hard-hitting subject and haunting performances.

The rave reviews of the show, which centres on the story of Offred who is being held in a totalitarian regime in a distant-future New England, have left us fans in the UK desperate to know when we might get to catch a glimpse.

Now, finally, our dreams are coming true! It’s recently been revealed that Channel 4 have acquired the rights to the US show, and execs have revealed that it will be coming to our screens almost immediately – this month, in fact!

And in more good news, the series has actually been renewed for a second season, meaning that when it does come to the UK, we’ll eventually have even more exciting episodes to watch.

Hulu’s content head Craig Erwich said, “The response we’ve seen to The Handmaid’s Tale in just one week since its premiere has been absolutely incredible.”

“It has been an honour to work with this talented team of cast and creators to develop a series that has struck such a chord with audiences across the country.

“As we continue to expand our strong slate of original programming, The Handmaid’s Tale is exactly the type of gripping and thought-provoking storytelling we want to bring to viewers.

“We can’t wait to explore the world of Gilead and continue Margaret’s vision with another season on Hulu.”
