We’ve all been captivated by royal drama The Crown, and details of a new storyline have emerged to get us even more excited.
The third season of award-winning series The Crown is nearly upon us, and it’s expected to feature Princess Anne falling for Andrew Parker-Bowles, despite his on/off relationship with Camilla Shand, now known as the Duchess of Cornwall.
In the series, Princess Anne is played by Call the Midwife’s Erin Doherty, while Andrew Parker-Bowles is played by Andrew Buchan. Prince Charles is played by Josh O’Connor, and Emerald Fennell is Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
So with each of the roles filled, fans are expected to get a glimpse into the personal lives of these four characters. So it should be a must watch for royal fans everywhere, if you’re not already!

The storyline becomes complicated as the royal family got involved with the relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla, worrying that she was too heavily involved with Andrew. As a result of this they were keen to protect the Prince, who is second-in-line to the British throne.
The Queen Mother had arranged a meeting with the Shands and the Parker-Bowles to discuss things, and arrange a wedding date for Camilla and Andrew.
Since his family was so hostile towards his relationship with Camilla, Prince Charles strengthened his ties with exiled uncle Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne in order to marry Wallis Simpson, an American socialite.
The series may explore that Charles feared he would also be condemned if he married Camilla against his family’s wishes, hence his close relationship with his uncle.

Royal biographer Penny Junor has commented on this complicated love triangle, saying of Camilla, “When she was introduced to Charles and he thought she was pretty special... He thought she was a bit of alright and she thought, 'Andrew is at the moment off with Princess Anne, you know her brother, teach Andrew a lesson'. So she had a fling with Charles."
In 1973, Princess Anne married Captain Mark Phillips, in the same year of Camilla and Andrew Parker-Bowles' wedding.
Princess Anne is still close to Andrew however, and often attends events with him.
However, in 1995 Camilla and Andrew divorced, and she married Prince Charles in 2005.
So there’s plenty of drama to be had for season 3 of The Crown, which arrives on Netflix on November 17th.
We’ll definitely be tuning in!
