With just little over a month to go before 25 December we’re getting in the festive spirit and no Christmas would be complete without the annual sprinkling of Strictly Come Dancing.
The stars for the Christmas edition of Strictly Come Dancing have been revealed.
Six former contests have been announced for the festive episode.
The celebrities will return to the Strictly dance floor – the spot where three of them came incredibly close to lifting the Glitterball Trophy. The half dozen will then battle it out to become this year’s Christmas champion.
Debbie McGee and Gemma Atkinson are among the returning names. Both were runner’s up behind Joe McFadden in 2017.
Giovanni Pernice was Debbie McGee’s partner two years ago – but it is yet to be announced which celebrities will be paired with which professionals for the Christmas Special.
Gemma Atkinson was coupled-up with professional Gorka Marquez. After the series the pair announced they were together romantically – they now have a baby girl together.
Gemma said, “I had the absolute best time on Strictly and it completely changed my life so I am absolutely overjoyed to be returning to the dancefloor this Christmas with a new challenge, and of course to be back with the gang!”
Social media star Joe Sugg will also be back for the festive episode. He made it to the 2018 season finale with dance partner Dianne Buswell – who he is now in a relationship with.
Joe currently hosts the show’s bi-weekly podcast, Strictly Come Dancing: The Official Podcast.
He said, “Strictly feels like a home away from home for me so I will be giving it my best shot and ending the year on a high.”
Presenter Mark Wright is also on the bill. He narrowly missed out on the final back in 2014.
Mark said, “It’s been a while since I was on the dancefloor but I’m very much looking to forward to dusting off the dance shoes for Christmas!”
Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold and actress Chizzy Akudolu will also feature on the festive episode.
Chizzy said, “I’m still the biggest fan of Strictly so it’s wonderful to be back with old friends, in front of and behind the camera, and hopefully some new ones for Christmas.”
