'I've been celibate for quite a while': Sharon Stone opens up on dating life and not meeting 'the great love' of her life yet

Sharon Stone is a “really good girlfriend” but she’s not had the chance to be one in a long time.

The iconic actress appeared on Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown podcast where she opened up about being "celibate", the "darkness" that has been brought into her life before, and what she’s actually looking for - if anything at all - in a new romance.

She revealed, "For quite a long time I’ve had no luck at all. I’ve been celibate for quite a while now because I’m just at the point where I really only want to be with someone that I care for."

Touching on her dating history, she also added, “I’ve been a girlfriend to bad boyfriends, and I’ve been a girlfriend to good boyfriends. I’ve had good luck and bad luck and no luck at all.”

Now that she’s in her 60s with her three children grown up, she’s not ruling out another romance, but what she’s looking for has notably changed. She shared that, in this chapter of her life, she’s after “someone that’s my companion, not just someone to have sex with".

“I'm kind of bored with that. I'm in the no luck at all phase right now. The phase you need to be willing to be in to have the thing that I really want."

In the candid interview, Sharon also opened up on the men she’s known in her past, and if any felt like her great love that got away. She told the host, “I have had loves in my life, but I don’t think I’ve had the great love of my life”.

The Casino star has been married twice before. Her first marriage was to producer Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1990 and her second husband was journalist Phil Bronstein, with the pair married between 1998 and 2004.

She adopted her eldest son, Roan in 2000, with her second husband. Following her 2004 split, she went on to adopt sons Laird in 2005, and Quinn in 2006.

Sharon also spoke about some of her darkest chapters in the frank interview, including the idea that one of her breakout roles led to “darkness” entering her life.

Speaking about her femme fatale role in the erotic 90s thriller, she revealed, “Darkness came into my life. Dark people, dark things, dangerous things came into my life because they thought, 'You're like me.'

“And then people believed some of the dark things that were said about me because they thought, 'Oh, you couldn't do that if you weren't like that because you've mirrored me to me.'"

Ultimately, it taught her a lesson about the people she invites into her inner circle. "Really the one thing you’ve got to remember is just because the devil's a very interesting person at the cocktail party doesn't mean you should invite that person [in]... Don't give that person a seat.”
