Natalie Portman has revealed that Chris Hemsworth abstained from meat ahead of their kiss scene in Thor: Love and Thunder, as a gesture of respect for her vegan lifestyle.

The Oscar-winning actor shared the touching story from the set of the new Marvel movie in a new interview, calling her Australian co-star's dietary sacrifice "so thoughtful."

Chris is known for following an extremely heavy, high-protein diet for his role as Thor, with some reports even suggesting that the 38-year-old consumes up to 4,500 calories a day to achieve the superhero's Herculean physique.

It's understood his meals consist mostly of animal products like steak, chicken, and fish, bolstered by a steady supply of power shakes, fruit and yogurt. But while he's undeniably committed to staying in shape, it looks like he won't do it at the cost of making others uncomfortable.

When asked on Capital FM what Chris was like as a coworker, Natalie was quick to share an example of his sweet nature on set.

"He’s really nice,” she said. “The day we had a kiss scene he didn’t eat meat that morning because I’m vegan."

The 41-year-old went on to recognize his "thoughtful" sacrifice, explaining, "He eats meat like every half hour."

Natalie, who recently compared her Black Swan diet to the hardcore strength training she underwent to play the Mighty Thor, also revealed that Chris changed up his carnal meals without being asked to.

"That’s not something I’m angry about or care about, but he was just being thoughtful. He’s just a very nice person.”

Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie on Thor: Love and Thunder, agreed with Natalie's take on the superfit Aussie.

“I didn’t even know he could go without eating meat. He’s just like eating bison in the morning. That’s so sweet,” she said.

Natalie, who went vegetarian at the age of 9, has been vegan for over ten years. She briefly consumed animal products when she was pregnant with her first child in 2011, but has reportedly returned to a plant-based diet.
