Loose Women fans have been left disappointed over the news that the popular ITV show won't be showing for the rest of this week.
The daytime chat show is being pulled from screens beginning today (13th March). And it won’t be on again until next Monday (19th).
Host Ruth Langsford announced the news on Monday’s show, revealing the reason why viewers won’t be able to catch their favourite show for a whole week.
She said, “That’s it for today and for the rest of the week I’m afraid.”
Ruth shared that the show is being pulled in order for ITV to show the Cheltenham horse racing festival – which is on all of this week.
The presenter said, “We are off air because of ITV’s coverage of the horse-racing at Cheltenham.”
The horse racing used to be shown on Channel 4. However, the sport has now been moved to ITV. And now, it seems the channel are making way for one of the sport’s biggest festivals of the year.
However, it seems Loose Women viewers have been left furious by the news, taking to Twitter to vent their frustration.
Many questioned why their favourite chat show had to be cancelled for the horse racing, in place of other options.
One wrote, ‘No Loose Women for the rest of the week. Seriously @ITV you have enough other channels to put bloody horse racing on.’
While another said, ‘Great to see I’m not the only viewer to complain that @loosewomen is off air because of horse racing. Just sent a very detailed email to complain.’
A third fan also commented, ‘@loosewomen what the hec are we supposed to do for the rest of the week without our loose women.’
And a fourth said, ‘I can’t believe that @loosewomen has been cancelled for some of the days next week for @itvracing. Completely different audiences. Can’t they put it on ITV2?’
It seems it’s not the first time Loose Women fans have been upset about the cancellation of the show either.
Back in August 2017, the channel also took the programme off screens to make way for Goodwood horse racing festival. And in June, the ITV show was cancelled multiple times in order to broadcast Royal Ascot.
You can catch Loose Women when it returns to ITV on 19th March.
