Holland & Barrett's new plastic-free beauty range already has a 55,000 people waiting list

Holland & Barrett has released a new plastic-free beauty range – and it’s already flying off the shelves.
The vegan-based line is made up entirely of beauty bars so is completely zero-waste.
Including bars of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, facial cleansers and scrubs, the range fulfils the population’s demand for zero- waste beauty products.
The handmade bars, from British brand Ethique, launched in stores in a flash sale on 7th July and were already so popular that one sold every five minutes in the first 48 hours after they came out.
There is now a waiting list of more than 55,000 customers hoping to get hold of the products when they are back in stock.
‘We’re delighted to be the first British retailer to offer Ethique’s beauty bar range,’ said a spokesperson for Holland & Barrett, ‘bringing a full-range of sustainably-sourced, vegan and zero-waste beauty products to British high streets nationwide for the first time.’
The high-street health store is hoping that sales of the bars will save over 70,000 plastic bottles from being produced.

Founded by British born entrepreneur and biochemist Brianne West, Ethique is the only company in the world devoted solely to producing handmade solid beauty bars in place of liquid beauty products.
‘We’re thrilled that a full-range of zero-waste beauty products will now be available on the nation’s high streets at Holland & Barrett stores, helping British consumers give up the bottle,’ says Brianne.
‘Despite our best intentions as consumers, just 9% of plastic is recycled worldwide, with the rest piling up in landfills or making its way into our oceans,’ she continues.
‘By creating solid bars of beauty products without the water that makes up to 90% of a traditional liquid product, we hope to help combat the plastic pollution problem by providing consumers with a zero-waste alternative.’
The range will be back in stock to buy from all 840 Holland and Barrett stores across the country from Wednesday 17th July.
Hurry down if you want to get your hands on it because by the sounds of it there’ll be lots of competition!
