To celebrate the monarch’s official 90th birthday, 10,000 members of the public will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join a picnic on The Mall in London on Sunday June 12th.
The majority of tickets for the Patron’ Lunch have been made available
to the 600 charities and organisations associated with the Queen.
Tickets are allocated through a ballot system and cost £150. Guests will sit at tables along The Mall with hampers provided by Marks & Spencer.
Details of the hamper’s contents have been revealed. Patron’s Lunch ticketholders can expect:
- a can of Pimm’s
- a mini picallili pork pie
- a selection of sandwiches
- two cupcakes
- a “posh raspberry royale” dessert
- a salmon mousse
- Pembrokeshire chicken salad
- apple juice
These come in a wicker basket, complete with plastic plates and matching cutlery.
If you’re celebrating at home, you can still get a Patron’s Lunch-style hamper for your own street party. Marks & Spencer are also creating a basket full of picnic food made with British ingredients, including a crown-topped pork pie, apple juice and a selection of sandwiches.
Other events in the capital to mark the Queen’s birthday include a service of thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday June 10th and a Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday June 11th.
