A popular Call the Midwife star recently revealed she was expecting, after turning up to the TV Choice Awards at the beginning of September with a huge bump in tow.

Helen George, who plays Nurse Trixie on the popular BBC programme, was expecting a baby with her Call the Midwife co-star Jack Ashton, who plays Reverend Tom Hereward.

And on Monday, the popular actress revealed that her baby had been born early, as she proudly unveiled the very first, adorable pictures of her daughter.

The actress posted a picture on her social media of her and Jack proudly holding their baby girl at a pre-planned baby shower - something which usually takes place before the baby's arrival.

Captioning the picture, Helen joked about her early arrival. She wrote, 'When your baby turns up early for her own baby shower, welcome to the world little one. What an amazing day, we have the best friends.'

Reportedly, Helen's baby, whose name hasn't yet been revealed, arrived six weeks earlier than expected.

She also posted an hilarious picture of boyfriend Jack holding their new arrival, looking slightly nervous about his impending dad duties.

Also in attendance at the baby shower was Helen's Call the Midwife co-star Laura Main, who plays Sister Bernadette in the series. The actress could be spotted in the background of Helen's social media post.

Fans of the actress rushed to congratulate Helen on the happy news, with one writing, 'Ah congratulations she is beautiful xx', and another saying, 'Congratulations to you both. She's gorgeous. Xx'

But while some fans were excitedly congratulating Helen on her gorgeous new baby, other fans had picked up on another surprising detail in the photo.

Fans were left convinced that the actress and partner Jack were engaged, as she debuted a glittering silver ring on her left hand.

Helen's followers flocked to the photo to comment on the exciting detail, and question whether Jack had quietly already popped the question.

However, a friend reportedly dismissed the engagement speculation to the Daily Mail, saying, "She's not engaged. It was the only finger her ring fitted on."
