Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio’s portrayal of fated lovers Rose and Jack in Titanic still bring us to tears all these decades later. Now the pair are reportedly set to reunite in honor of the classic film’s 25th anniversary.

Titanic saw Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio break out in Hollywood, but since then the Oscar winning actors’ have rarely crossed paths on screen. In recent times Kate has gone on to shine in everything from Ammonite to HBO’s Mare of Easttown, for which she recently teased a Mare of Easttown season 2. While after all the times Leonardo could have won an Oscar and didn’t, he finally secured one after wowing in The Revenant and will appear alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the upcoming Don’t Look Up.

The last time Kate and Leo fans were treated to the remarkable talents of both stars acting alongside each other came 13 years ago in Kate's now ex-husband Sam Mendes' 2008 romantic drama, Revolutionary Road. However, while this might remain the case for years to come, fans might just get to see the Titanic duo reunite in honor of a special anniversary.

Next year the James Cameron epic marks its 25th anniversary and it’s been suggested that the director has big plans to commemorate it—and they could include Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. As reported by Women’s Day Australia, sources have alleged to them that James, Kate and Leo are in “late-stage talks” over how to celebrate the milestone in 2022.

They report that their insider claimed there’s “talk of a documentary” with “Kate and Leo taking the starring role”. Speculation regarding a possible Titanic anniversary project has also seen rumors of revisiting sets and a cast reunion party thrown into the mix.

While nothing has been confirmed by James, Kate or Leo themselves yet, Titanic fans would no doubt be thrilled to see the actors reunite in some way on screen after so many years as they reflect on the movie that launched their careers to stratospheric heights.

The actors are also understood to have remained close friends throughout the years. So much so, that Leonardo is said to have given Kate away at her 2012 New York wedding to husband Edward Abel ‘Ned’ Smith, formerly known as Ned Rocknroll, whom she has previously revealed helps her prepare for her roles

At the 2014 LA premiere of Divergent, Kate reportedly referred to Leo as the “love of [her] life” on the red carpet. Meanwhile, back in a 2010 interview with Esquire, Leonardo declared, “Kate Winslet is one of my dearest friends. We have the ultimate trust in each other and the best of intentions for what we want to do.”

For the 20th anniversary of Titanic’s release in 2017, James Cameron re-released the classic movie in theatres, much to the delight of long-time fans. Now five years later, whether or not he, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio come together for something even more special remains to be seen.

But after 13 years without seeing close friends Kate and Leo on screen together, many fans might well be thinking—it’s about time!
