Thinking ahead with Christmas gifting can pay dividends in the long run, which is why the launch of John Lewis' latest Made by Care collection is so perfectly timed. The charity line offers stylish homeware at affordable prices - all in the name of a good cause.

Created in support of Action for Children, the 16-piece collection brings together homeware and accessories with distinctive, artistic designs from one of the charity's ambassadors, Peter Dyer. There are hand-painted vases, beautifully shaped ceramics for your very best candles, and carved tableware, with prices starting at just £9. They're little luxuries that make lovely presents, whether you're shopping for a friend who loves interiors or looking for something special for a Secret Santa.

But there's an even lovelier reason to add one of these stylish little home treats to your basket. A quarter of the purchase price of every product, alongside a £150,000 donation from John Lewis, will go directly to Action for Children, helping to support vulnerable children and young people. So, while you're ticking off gifts for the homebodies on your Christmas list, you're also helping to make a difference.

Our Top 6 Picks From The Made by Care Peter Dyer Collection

Made by Care is in its fourth year as part of the John Lewis Partnership's Building Happier Futures programme, which supports people who have experienced the care system to develop their skills, confidence and career opportunities.

This year's collection has been designed by Peter Dyer, who was selected from 14 candidates for his distinctive, fluid approach to design. Born in Holloway prison, Peter became a ward of the state before being adopted. His experiences have informed a creative practice that explores themes of belonging, identity and the way our surroundings shape us.

"My work spans architecture, landscape and product design. It is shaped by my experiences growing up and explores themes of belonging and identity," Peter explains. "These ideas inform my design work, art practice and many other aspects of my life."

His modern, personal range is both decorative and fluid, giving a little character to your everyday objects. The 16-piece collection spans homeware and accessories, with some particularly lovely gift options that won't require a huge Christmas budget. I'm especially drawn to the ceramic pieces, which offer an easy way to bring a little personality to a shelf, coffee table or kitchen.

The hand-painted vase, priced at just £15, is a lovely example. It's an affordable present for someone who enjoys interiors, and its artistic finish makes it feel a little more special than your everyday decorative accessory. There's also a geometric-shaped ceramic mug for £9, which would make a thoughtful stocking filler for someone who appreciates a good morning coffee or tea.

Of course, the most meaningful part of the collection is the cause behind it. With 25% of the purchase price of every item going to Action for Children, alongside John Lewis' £150,000 donation, every purchase contributes to supporting care-experienced children and young people.

The money will help Action for Children build supportive communities around children who have experienced the care system, making sure they have the right people beside them when they need support most. It's a reminder that thoughtful gifting doesn't have to stop with the person receiving the present.
