Many of us have been looking forward to 2020 mini breaks or holidays, which have now been affected by lockdown. But Airbnb is here to help us enjoy experiences from our own homes.

Airbnb Experiences will enable people to connect around the globe, allowing hosts to earn income and guests to travel virtually.

Bookings are open this month, and experiences start at just £1.

There are currently over 50 virtual experiences available and the company hope to offer more over the coming months.

Online experiences will be hosted via Zoom, which is provided free of charge to hosts.

This includes personalised support services for curating, capturing and sharing online content.

Some of the Airbnb experiences will offer unprecedented access to inspiring hosts from over 30 different countries.

These include Olympic medallists Alistair Brownlee, Nancy Kerrigan and Lauren Gibbs.

There’ll be HITT workouts, learning about nutrition and virtual bike tours on offer from these hosts.

If that doesn’t interest you, perhaps meditation with Buddhist monks, virtual visits with the dogs of Chernobyl, or cooking with a Moroccan family might?

Or, to connect with colleagues or friends, you can use team activities like making coffee with a professional coffee taster.

Some experiences are free too, to help those who are most isolated. Airbnb is working with SAGE, National Council on Aging and Amigos de los Mayores to combat loneliness amongst the elderly.

Catherine Powell, head of Airbnb Experiences said, “Human connection is at the core of what we do.

“With so many people needing to stay indoors to protect their health, we want to provide an opportunity for our hosts to connect with our global community of guests in the only way possible right now, online.”

    Well done, Airbnb!
