Would you like a bigger, rounder bottom?... Today's Debate

by Gaby Huddart on Monday, 28 January 2013

It's a simple debate at the w&h water cooler today - about a vital part of our anatomy, our bottoms!

The debate has been sparked by new figures that reveal the number of women having fat put INTO their posteriors has for the first time overtaken those having liposuction to remove it.

Figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons show the number of women having fat transfer procedures - whereby fat is removed from one area, such as the thighs, and put into another area, usually the bottom - has risen by 13 per cent in a year.

Cosmetic surgeons think the growing popularity of the procedure is down to curvaceous stars, such as Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, whose ample rears are greatly admired in the US - and now, it seems, in the UK too!

But a straw poll here at w&h suggests it'll be a long time before the desire for bigger, rounder bottoms is universal! Most of us are still attempting to keep our new year's resolutions going of visiting the gym and eating healthily going in a bid to slim down - and bottoms are one of the main areas we're keen to trim, rather than the opposite!

How about you? Would you like a plumper posterior? Or do you find this a peculiar trend? If not your bottom, is there another part of your body for which you'd consider cosmetic surgery? Do tell us in the comments box below or join the debate in our forums now...
