Prince Harry admits he's 'thriving' as he stars in short film about 'mental fitness'

The royal interviews three people in the five-minute video for mental health app BetterUp

Prince Harry has opened up about his own mental health journey - in a video campaign to promote a mental health coaching app called BetterUp.


Prince Harry, who has been BetterUp's chief impact officer since last March, interviews three people in the short film, which also includes psychologist Adam Grant and Blu Mendoza - who is a member of the mental health coaching service. 

During the five-minute film, the Duke also says that he has also experienced mental health coaching through the app and it has helped him 'thrive' every day. 

Prince Harry, who will be joined by his wife Meghan Markle for an exciting public appearance in New York next week, also talks about his own mental health journey.

At the beginning of the film he says, "We all have greatness within us - mental fitness helps us unlock it. It's an ongoing practice, one where you approach your mind as something to flex, not fix."

He also went on to say how much trauma and resilience he has seen around the world over the last few years, "Throughout the years of traveling around the world, what I saw was the similarities of experiences of trauma, of loss, of grief, of being human.

The father of two of went on to say how it is, "absolutely critical... to 'build up resilience' to these emotions through a series of mental health exercises."

Prince Harry, who discussed unresolved mental health trauma with the royal family during his Oprah appearance last year, also shared how he likes to meditate every day, listen to lessons from the universe and how its important to turn negatives into positives.

The Duke went on to share some of his other mental health tips, saying, "With everything else around you, the only way you can combat [burnout] and build resilience for the outside world and your entire environment is the inner work...

"Outer work becomes so much easier when you get to grips with the inner work... If everybody [had time] to do [inner work], the shift in global consciousness and awareness would be enormous, it would be vast."
