Kate Middleton’s royal rise risks overshadowing Duchess Camilla and Prince Charles
Kate Middleton's royal rise has reportedly seen people start to 'look to' her before Duchess Camilla
Kate Middleton’s royal rise has seen her grow in confidence and according to an expert people will reportedly “look to” her ahead of Duchess Camilla.
- Kate Middleton and Camilla will both be Queen Consort one day but according to an expert it’s the Cambridges who are seen as the “next custodians”.
- It’s been claimed that people “look to” Kate before Camilla, though this apparently isn’t the first time a potential overshadowing situation has arisen.
- This royal news comes as the Queen's touching message was revealed by Prince William and Kate as the royal couple leave Belize for Jamaica.
Since she officially joined the Royal Family over a decade ago, Kate Middleton has consistently inspired fans with her warmth and growing confidence. Despite some suggesting Kate’s a “natural introvert”, she has been observed overcoming any sense of shyness over the years. Never was this more apparent than in the Duchess of Cambridge’s recent visit to Copenhagen where she not only let loose on a slide, but candidly opened up about feeling “broody” for another baby.
However, it seems Kate Middleton’s natural charisma could potentially risk her overshadowing her in-laws. And it’s not the first time there’s reportedly been all eyes on others whilst senior royals are out and about…
Earlier this year the Queen gave her blessing for her daughter-in-law Duchess Camilla to be known as Queen Consort when Prince Charles takes the throne. This prestigious title is one that Kate is also set to take on when Prince William succeeds his father as King.
However, according to Express.co.uk, on Channel 5’s documentary, Kate: Our Queen in Waiting, a royal expert claimed that despite Duchess Camilla preparing to become Queen Consort ahead of Kate, it’s the Duchess of Cambridge people “look to”.
“It’s an interesting point that people will look to Kate before Camilla” alleged Russell Myers, Royal Editor for The Mirror. “The interest has gathered at such a pace with William and Kate that people do see them as the next custodians”.
Although Duchess Kate and Prince William might have “gathered” huge interest over the years, Prince Charles is higher in the royal line of succession than his son. As a result, he and Duchess Camilla technically take a higher royal precedence over them.

This is something the Cambridges have been seen acknowledging, with Kate showing an “act of inconvenience” on Commonwealth Day as she expressed respect for Duchess Camilla. Though the reported risk of possibly overshadowing the next King and Queen Consort is something that has supposedly been seen before.
According to Vogue, in Princess Diana’s astonishing Panorama interview, she suggested that all the media attention on her during her and Prince Charles’ visit to Australia caused “jealousy”.
She stated, “We'd be going round Australia, for instance, and all you could hear was, ‘oh, she's on the other side.’ Now, if you're a man—like my husband—a proud man, you mind about that if you hear it every day for four weeks. You feel low about it, instead of feeling happy and sharing it.”
“With the media attention came a lot of jealousy. A great deal of complicated situations arose because of that,” Princess Diana added.
Throughout the years Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to have been careful to show respect to Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla and their senior positions. Though both couples will no doubt continue to attract huge interest as they prepare for the future roles.
