The Crown writer reveals that the Royal Family are told how they’re portrayed so they can “brace themselves”
The Crown series writer Peter Morgan has confirmed that the Royal Family are told how the programme will portray them.

The popular Netflix historical drama returns to our screens in November, with a brand new cast taking over for the third season.
Since the programme is moving into the 1960s and 70s, Olivia Colman will replace Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, and Tobias Menzies will replace Matt Smith as Prince Phillip.
But portraying such important public figures is definitely hard, which is why series writer told The Times he has four annual meetings with people who are “very high ranking” and “very active” within the organisation.
Peter added: “Respectfully, I tell them what I have in mind and they brace themselves slightly”.
The first two series were set from 1947 up until 1963, following Queen Elizabeth II during the early years of her reign. The third will continue where they left off, from 1964 up to 1976.

Prince Charles will feature in this series, following his coronation as Prince of Wales in 1969. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will also be introduced in series three.

Apparently, The Crown does have the royal seal of approval. David, series protocol adviser, has said: “Senior members of the royal household have said to me, ‘Oh, we love The Crown.’
“If there were some indication from on high that it was some kind of scandalous production, that might be reflected in their view, don’t you think?”
