Villa Ruby is a chic, super-spacious house on the Cap Vermell private estate, just a two-minute drive from the turquoise waters of Canyamel on the north-east coast of Mallorca.

It sleeps seven in four bedrooms, one on the ground floor with direct access to the garden. And with five bathrooms, you’ll never have to worry about a queue! It’s exquisitely finished in contemporary colours, with huge comfy beds, floor-to-ceiling marble in the bathrooms and a high-tech kitchen complete with essential wine cooler.

The sun-drenched private pool and perfectly manicured garden are perfect to relax in (and to escape from each other if it all gets too much), or you can chill out on the first floor terrace with stunning views over the countryside.

Easily accessible from Palma Airport, Villa Ruby is an ideal year-round option for groups of family or friends. The lovely climate means that the locals swim in the sea up until November!

If some of your group prefer the comfort of a hotel stay, there’s the Cap Vermell Beach Hotel right on the beach at Canyamel. It has just 12 charming rooms, a spa, a bar – and a restaurant loved by Mallorcan tennis player Rafael Nadal!

Who doesn’t enjoy a day on the beach? Guests at Villa Ruby can also use the sunbeds, towels and hot tub at the Cap Vermell Beach Hotel. We had lunch at its Vintage 1934 Restaurant, where the friendly staff are happy to make special arrangements for larger groups. Choose your favourite crab or lobster from the tank built into the cave itself, let the chef work his magic and enjoy with a glass of something cold from the excellent wine list (delicious lobster dishes from around £25). Plus breakfast in the restaurant is free of charge for guests of Villa Ruby.
If you’re feeling active, there are four golf courses in the Cap Vermell area (18 holes at nearby Canyamel Golf, from around £42 per person). The area is great for cycling and hiking, and a ten-minute drive away is Cala Ratjada, for sailing and watersports.

One week in Villa Ruby on the Cap Vermell Estate (; 00 34 971 841 627) starts at £3,336 per week (£68pp per night), including optional daily breakfast in the Cap Vermell Beach Hotel, where a double room rate starts from around £82 a night, including breakfast ( Flights to Palma from London Gatwick start from £34.49 one way (
