Gluten free mince pies are a lot easier to make than you might think, and they're still beautifully crisp and buttery as you'd expect from a classic bake. gluten free flour is so easy to get now, available in all the big name supermarkets, and gives great results.

This recipe uses a jar of mince meat but you could of course make your own. Just remember to make sure the one you buy is gluten free, too. Why not finish these off with a little grated orange zest and a pinch of mixed spice? The best way we know of to get your house smelling beautifully Christmassy.



How To Make Gluten Free Mince Pies

Ingredients

  • 200g (7oz) gluten free flour (we used Doves)
  • 100g (4oz) butter
  • 1 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 5 tbsp cold water
  • Half a jar of

mincemeat

Method

  1. Place the flour in a mixing bowl, add the butter cut into pieces, and the sugar and rub in with the fingertips to make fine crumbs. Add the water and stir to make a soft dough. Chill for 30 mins if you have time .

  2. Set the oven to 220c, 200c fan, gas 6. Roll out the pastry on a work surface dusted with gluten free flour . roll out thinly and cut 16 circles with a fluted pastry cutter. Use to line bun tins and fill each with a teaspoonful of mincemeat. Re roll the pastry trimming and cut out stars with a cookies cutter and place on top.

  3. 3 Bake for 12-15 mins or until golden brown and crisp. Allow to cool then dust with icing sugar
