The Queen's sacrifice for her country during the pandemic amid Downing Street Christmas party rumors

The alleged Downing Street Christmas party of 2020 has shocked Britons who have argued that even Her Majesty made sacrifices and sat alone at her husband's funeral, yet British politicians flouted rules and partied at number 10.

Since the news of an alleged Downing Street Christmas Party has broken, royal supporters have taken to social media to point out the Queen's many sacrifices for her country.

The Queen had to make 'difficult decisions' for Prince Philip's funeral, from the Covid-19 restricted guest list to sitting on her own at the love of her life's funeral.

The comparison has been made that while the politicians reportedly broke the Covid-19 regulations that they implemented, Her Majesty, the Head of State, set an example for the country and obeyed the rules even when it meant burying her husband without the comfort of her family.

"The Queen obeyed the rules, she sat alone at her husband's funeral. If anyone would have been given a pass on the rules by the public it would have been the Queen at that time. But she followed the same rules as the rest of us, Downing Street didn't...." said one royal supporter on social media.

"I wonder how the Queen is feeling today, hearing that the government having parties & then laughing about it days later. When she had to sit on her own at the funeral of her husband of 70 years," said another.

Even in the House of Commons, the Leader of the Labour party, Sir Keir Starmer, compared the alleged Downing Street Christmas party to the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

The Labour leader said, "Her Majesty the Queen sat alone when she marked the passing of the man she'd been married to for 73 years. Leadership, sacrifice—that’s what gives leaders the moral authority to lead."

"Does the Prime Minister think he has the moral authority to lead and ask the British public to stick to the rules?"

The Queen's staff at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and Balmoral Castle have also recently revealed their shock in a recent interview.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source said, “It would be a gross understatement to say people are angry. Many missed Christmas, birthdays, other special occasions and weeks on end away from their families."

“But it was all in the spirit it was for the greater good and we were doing our bit. It’s a slap in the face for anyone frankly.”

The source said that despite staff making 'sacrifices made from the very top all the way down' to keep the Queen and Prince Philip safe as they formed a support bubble at Sandringham House, many of the staff felt that this was “worthless” with the news that these restrictions were broken by politicians elsewhere.

Many staff members were said to also be 'visibly upset' when discussing the Queen being forced to sit alone at her husband's funeral.
