Queen ‘very unlikely’ to strip Prince Harry and Meghan of their wedding gift Sussex titles due to this key factor
The Queen would reportedly only do this as a ‘last resort’

The Queen would reportedly find it “very hard” to strip grandson Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding gift titles for a very significant reason.
- The Queen awarded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex in honor of their wedding in May 2018.
- Now a royal expert has claimed that despite speculation around whether the couple could be stripped of their titles, it would be a “last resort” by the Queen.
- In other royal news, the Queen has lost every person she has ever trusted, royal author explains in a heartbreaking claim.
The Queen presented Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with their royal titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex as a wedding present back in 2018. Whilst Harry was also awarded the titles of Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel. Despite the couple deciding to step back as senior members of the Royal Family and forge a new life in the US, they have retained these titles, though they have given up using their HRH styles.
However, Prince Harry’s recent comments regarding “genetic pain” being passed down in the Royal Family have reignited speculation over whether the couple could lose their wedding gift titles after all. Speaking on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Harry discussed the "pain and suffering" he experienced growing up and claimed Prince Charles “treated [him] the way he was treated” by his own parents.
Now a royal expert has revealed that despite rumors that Harry and Meghan might now be stripped of their Sussex titles, the Queen would only do this as a “last resort” due to one key factor.
When asked on air whether he thought their titles would be taken from them, talkRADIO royal correspondent Rupert Bell replied, "Personally no, because the Queen gave them as a wedding present and I think she would find that very hard to take that away from them, given the circumstances these titles were given.”
He explained that a vote in parliament would most likely have to take place in order to strip the Harry and Meghan's titles and that it’s “very unlikely” the Queen would do this.
“I see that as a position of last resort and the Queen has to agree to it,” he declared.

Though the Queen likely won’t be looking to take back her generous wedding gift, the royal commentator did go on to allege that there is “underlying” frustration within the Royal Family
“What I think it does reflect is the underlying, total frustration with Harry and Meghan, particularly with the podcast comments about the family,” he said.
“I think a lot of people within The Firm feel totally frustrated knowing they can’t say anything yet Harry seems to be going on a continual rant against his family... it's a PR assault on the people they are working for!”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to celebrate their third wedding anniversary on May 19 and will soon be welcoming their second child. Though they remain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their son is known simply as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
It’s not yet known if Harry and Meghan's new baby will have a royal title. However, it seems likely they would choose to follow the same path as with their first child should the Queen offer one and decide against it.
