Princess Anne's khaki coat with subtle mauve pattern accented by matching scarf as chic royal ups the ante with increasingly stylish looks

Princess Anne's khaki coat screams military chic, but have we seen it before? How the royal may be using the Queen's style secret

Princess Anne's khaki coat blends olds time elegance, military chic, and good old fashioned tailoring. If the coat's construction isn't enough to win you over, the subtle mauve check will surely drive fashion fans wild.

Recent images taken during her Uganda visit prove that Princess Anne rocks double denim like a fashion pro, and it's increasingly evident that the Princess Royal knows her way around a wardrobe. Princess Anne's khaki coat is the latest style choice by the King's sister that blends old-timey chic with complementary accessories. The coat was ideal for the day that was in it as HRH officially opened a new children's support hub in Gosport, near Portsmouth.

Gosport Community Hub will offer outreach programs and activities, supporting families in Gosport and Fareham - which includes a large number of children whose parents are in the armed forces. BBC News reports that the hub, which is based at Gosport's Brune Park Community School, "is accessible to all families across the collaboration of schools in the Multi Academy Trust in the area."

Although her look certainly reflected the military shade of green, Princess Anne's khaki coat had a simple wide spaced check that perfectly matched her mauve scarf. The tailored look appears to be a favorite of the royal and may actually be an upcycled or at the very least incredibly similar to a coat she sported in the past.

The jacket in question was a part of a skirt suit, which she wore at the Braemar Highland Gathering in Scotland. The royal was photographed alongside King Charles and Camilla Queen Consort, with the trio seemingly having an absolute rip-roaring good time.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, as the old adage goes, and seemingly, after Princess Anne shared the Queen's secrets to style, that may have been a lesson she learned from her late mother.

In an interview with Women’s Weekly in Australia, HRH said, “The Queen and I had a discussion the other day about the difference between fashion and style and I think maybe that’s relevant in the sense that she didn’t do fashion but she certainly does style, and style tends to last longer.”

She added sagely, “You have an individual style and it’s a quality which has a long-term value.” In light of this, as time goes on, it's likely that we can expect more of the same from Princess Anne as she places herself firmly in the ranks of the Royal Family's best-dressed.
