Prince William’s fresh new look in bold green velvet sees fans compare him to James Bond villain
Prince William kept to the green theme at the inaugural Earthshot Prize Awards

Prince William debuted a bold new velvet look for the Earthshot Prize Awards 2021—and fans couldn’t help but compare him to a suave James Bond villain as he walked the green carpet.
- The Duke of Cambridge tied-in his look with the green focus of the Earthshot Prize Awards 2021 and he’s got the public vote to be the “next James Bond villain”.
- Royal fans compared the Queen’s grandson to this classic role and it wasn’t the only character they felt this bold look would’ve suited.
- This royal news comes as the Queen's hilarious reaction to finding a slug in her salad is revealed.
Prince William wowed fans across the globe when he took to the green carpet on October 17th as he and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge attended the first ever Earthshot Prize Awards in London. The Duke of Cambridge has long been known for his commitment to conservation amid the ongoing climate crisis and has recently slammed space tourists as he emphasized the importance of focusing on the Earth.
Meanwhile, earlier this month he was praised for his emotional climate change plea ahead of his new Earthshot documentary airing. Now the Queen’s grandson has seen the first ever Earthshot Prizes awarded at the inaugural awards ceremony and the royal marked the occasion with a seriously bold look.
The ceremony was held at Alexandra Palace and featured an iconic green carpet in keeping with the event’s environmental focus and Prince William debuted a stunning velvet jacket. The forest green tone of the jacket perfectly complemented his choice of smart, black trousers and an elegant black turtle-neck jumper.
And whilst the Duke’s ensemble might have differed dramatically from the classic white shirt and black jacket he wore at the recent James Bond No Time To Die premiere, impressed fans couldn’t help comparing the royal to the spy’s greatest nemesis.
“I vote for Prince William to be the next Bond Villain. In that velvet jacket he would definitely look the part”, one fan declared excitedly on Twitter.

The Earthshot Prize was launched last year in collaboration with celebrated conservationist Sir David Attenborough. The prize has been designed to incentivise change and help restore our planet. Every year from 2021 until 2030, The Earthshot Prize will be awarded to five winners, with five £1million prizes to be awarded each year for the next decade.
Next year’s Awards will take place in the United States and Prince William expressed his hope that the Earthshot Prize will have inspired many to help fight against climate change.
"I hope everyone watching understands more about the urgent challenges facing our planet in this decisive decade. And I hope that our Earthshot winners have shown you that there is no place for despair,” he declared.
"You should feel inspired to act and to demand that the solutions you've seen tonight get all the support they need."
