In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Coach Core, an organization that supports disadvantaged young people with sports coaching apprenticeships, The Prince and Princess of Wales attended an engagement.
The charity aims to get people to re-engage with education and increase activity levels in local communities. The charity is one of the royal couple's foundations that they began funding in 2012 following the London Olympic Games and the London Riots.
The Prince of Wales showed off his boxing abilities when he showed a few skills by Gabrielle Reid, 18, from Bournemouth, and Joshua Jones, 21, from Birmingham.
Speaking about meeting the Prince, the young participants in the program told The Telegraph, "I taught him some basics - one-two, jab. He wasn’t bad. He picked it up quickly. Some defenses as well - some slips, some rolls," said Gabrielle. She was then asked if the royal had professional potential and added, "Definitely. Who knows? He could be the next heavyweight champion of the world. He said he really enjoyed it."
"I showed him the jab, the backhand. Then to mix it up I showed him how to throw a one-two, stance, and guard," said Joshua. He then added that the Prince admitted to having a small injury on his hand, so despite enjoying the sport, it was unlikely he could take it any further.
"It was good to see he had a few skills under his belt. He enjoyed it. He told me he had done a bit before, but he’s got a little knuckle injury or something like that, so he wouldn’t be taking it up any time soon," said Joshua.
