Prince Harry isn't interested in bonding with Duchess Camilla despite initially accepting her into the Royal Family, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex's relationship with the future Queen Consort has always been complicated, but it's reportedly taken a turn for the worse in recent years. It's now understood that the 37-year-old, who withdrew as a senior royal with Meghan Markle in January 2020, has no intention of becoming buddy-buddy with his father's second wife.
Camilla has been the stepmother of Prince Harry and Prince William since 2005, when she and Prince Charles finally wed in a civil ceremony after engaging in an extramarital affair for decades.
The Prince of Wales infamously cheated on the late Princess Diana with the English socialite throughout their royal before ultimately divorcing her in 1992. Charles and Camilla went public with their relationship in 1998, one year after the Princess of Wales was tragically killed in a car crash.
It's been widely reported that Harry has never fully embraced Camilla as his stepmom, with some royal insiders speculating that he even blamed her for the collapse of his parents' marriage. The pair supposedly managed to get along when the duchess first married into the Royal Family, but have distanced massively from each other in recent years.
"I don't know about the recent trip [the Sussexes' attendance at the Platinum Jubilee] but certainly I think Harry was quite happy to accept Camilla in the beginning," Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine, said during a recent appearance on the Pod Save the Queen podcast.
Unfortunately, this honeymoon period failed to last and the two have yet to warm up to each other again. Apparently, Harry "went off the boil" about Camilla in the years following her marriage to Prince Charles. "I don't think he holds her in great respect," Seward explained, adding, "I don't think Harry is interested in developing a relationship with his stepmother at this stage in his life."
Her comments come shortly after it was revealed that Prince Charles fears Prince Harry’s memoir will cause ‘reputational damage’ to Camilla, as insiders warn that the Duke could drop some shattering bombshells about their 75-year-old in the highly-anticipated book.
