It's the biggest fashion show on Earth and we've got you a front row seat! See all the fabulous frocks from the Oscars red carpet...
It’s been one of the most talked-about Oscars ceremonies for years. With plenty of newcomers in the running for awards, and a few old favourites we’re all rooting for (we’re looking at you, Leo!), all eyes were on the Dolby Theatre in LA as the stars took to the red carpet for the 88th Academy Awards.
Last year, Julianne Moore and Felicity Jones topped all the best dressed lists, but the 2016 Oscars have been all about newcomers Alicia Vikander, Saoirse Ronan and Brie Larson. And when it comes to the trends, there’s pastels aplenty – but a distinct lack of the white gowns we’ve seen at this year’s previous awards shows. Throw into the mix plenty of skin flashing, but not in the obvious way: think low backs, super plunger necklines (without the cleavage) and legs peeking through slots, and you’ve got the sexiest way to show some flesh.
Ready to find your best dressed? We’ve got you a front row seat on the red carpet. See all the arrivals here…
She's done it again! Cate know exactly how to make impress on the red carpet. And this year she certainly hasn't let her style guard drop. This time she's opted for an unforgettable fairytale gown by Armani that she chose herself. We love.
WOW. Rooney Mara may have missed out on a gong so far, but her style track record is faultless this award season. The finale is as breathtaking as we hoped - a Givenchy long-sleeved lace gown with waist cut-out detailing and ruffled front. On paper, it shouldn't work: but my, how it does. Beautiful.
It's being tipped as one of the best red carpet looks of the evening, and with good reason. Charlize's red-hot Christian Dior gown couldn't be more perfect for her - the plunge neckline, the red colour: everything suited her perfectly. Add a diamond drop necklace into the equation and you've got a look people will be talking about for years to come.
Who do you call on when you want to own the Oscars red carpet? Well, Louis Vuitton, of course! Alicia has pulled out all the stops to be the literal Belle of the ball in this gorgeous strapless yellow gown. A true fairytale dress for a night she'll never forget.
Brie has proved her credentials as one to watch on the red carpet this awards season. She's up for an Oscar for her performance in Room - and she'll no doubt top the best dressed list too. Her stand-out, simple-but-effective midnight blue gown with waist detailing is by Gucci.
Proving that black can still be breathtaking, Julianne glided down the red carpet in a Chanel design - the same brand that created her showstopping 2015 white gown. That intricate beaded detailing around the neckline? WOW.
Eddie and wife Hannah look adorable as ever this evening. The Danish Girls star and Best Actor nominee Eddie usually experiments with textures and colours on the red carpet, but he's kept it classic for the Oscars in a simple Alexander McQueen tux. And the fact that Eddie does all of his own styling just makes us love him that little bit more. Definitely a picture for his mum's mantlepiece!
Saoirse really chose well when it came to this gown - it couldn't have suited her better. Her slim figure was shown off beautifully thanks to the plunge neckline and low back. The Calvin Klein Collection dress was chosen especially for its colour - the actress wanted to wear green on the red carpet to represent her home country of Ireland.
Jennifer's style is so experimental that we're always excited to see what she'll choose; and she certainly hasn't disappointed with this delicate lace gown. The layered skirt added texture and it certainly isn't a style we've seen often. Paired with a bright new bob, the Joy actress looked breathtaking.
It's her first Oscar nomination (for her role in Spotlight), and we think Rachel chose the perfect gown. A little bit 90s-inspired, she's flashing just the right amount of skin thanks to the leg slit. And could we see an emerald green trend emerging?
British actress Daisy has catapulted to fame thanks to her role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so it's no wonder she looked completely at home on the red carpet in this stunning embellished Chanel Haute Couture gown. We love the simple sheath shape and soft grey hue on her.
Debuting a new longer 'do, Margot chose a Tom Ford gold snakeskin dress with a statement clutch as her red carpet look. She would look fabulous in a bin bag, of course, but we do love this colour on her.
Game of Thrones actress Sophie opted for old Hollywood glamour in a simple form-fitting gown and Louboutin heels. Paired with long waves, the end result was beautiful.
There's a reason we go back to black time and time again - and it's because it looks this good. Jennifer's gown was the epitome of true Hollywood glamour - we don't think we've seen her looking this glowing and gorgeous in a long time.
You can always count on Naomi to get it just right on the red carpet, and she didn't disappoint in this metallic Armani Prive number. The perfect colour for her hair and skintone, the all-over embellishment made her stand out for all the right reasons.
A unique choice, this Oriental-style peplum blush gown got a lot of love on social media. Is it a top and skirt, or a dress? Who knows - it looks great on her though.
While it can be tempting to hark back to old Hollywood on the red carpet, British actress and Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling's look was thoroughly modern - and we loved it! A simple long sleeved gown and lilac heels were the epitome of simple but effective.
Never one to shy away from making a sartorial statement, Lady Gaga showed everyone how to do Oscars dressing with a twist. The singer and actress star chose a jumpsuit/dress hybrid by stylist-turned-designer Brandon Maxwell, and we fully approve of the unique style. Gaga is evolving before our eyes, and we like what we see!
Reese certainly knows what suits her, and strapless form-fitting gowns it is! Potentially one of the least exciting dresses of the evening, but there's no doubt that this looks chcocolate-box good!
Hmm. Well one thing's for sure: Heidi can pull anything off. But this certainly isn't her best look. Layers of chiffon, floral detailing and just one sleeve equal a gown that's just too busy. Still, we adore the colour on her, and we admire Heidi for always mixing it up on the red carpet.
Uh-oh, looks like Tina took some tips from Reese - but perhaps one too many! This purple strapless gown is certainly similar to Reese's, if a little less detailed. Not our favourite look from Tina - the chiffon and ruched body detailing scream high school prom.
Pregnant Emily couldn't have looked any prettier. Her pale pink and beautifully embellished gown by Prada was a pastel dream. We think this could be her best red carpet look yet.
9 year-old Jacob has been capturing the hearts of the world as we watch him enjoy his new-found fame via a stream of social media pictures. From meeting Sylvester Stallone to walking the red carpet, his adorable enthusiasm is almost as fascinating to watch as his performance in Room.
One of our favourite couples - Isla has opted for a style that really suits her: the floaty boho dress. The off-shoulder style looked gorgeous against her skin tone.
Patricia made quite the impact last year with her speech about equality, so it's no wonder that her simple royal blue gown this year was a big surprise. None the less, we think the actress looks great.
We never fail to be amazed by Sofia's incredible body, but this dress certainly left us speechless. Sparkling Marchesa was her pick, and we think we may have spotted a new trend in peplum waists.
Yes, yes and yes again! Olivia's one-shouldered orange dress couldn't have fitted her more perfectly. The simple Stella McCartney style had us dreaming of summer nights.
We were expecting to see more white gowns on the Oscars red carpet after they've been a favourite at other awards shows, but it was only Olivia who opted for a Grecian-style dress with the red carpet favourite - the plunging neckline. Beautiful pleat detailing meant the end result was glamorous and sophisticated.
Their song, 'The Writing's On The Wall' has already become a classic, and the pair have been showing of their suits at many an awards ceremony this year! Simple tuxes are the order of the day - keeping it classic for the Oscars is always a good idea.
'It's based on the dress Bette Davis wore in All About Eve', Whoopi said as she stopped to talk to the cameras on the red carpet. Simple but certainly effective, this black gown makes the most of the biggest trend of the season: the shoulders.
We've been waiting with baited breath to see how Chrissy would style her pregnancy at the Oscars after a couple of hit-and-miss outfits during awards season, but this stunning gown has restored our faith in her style credentials. These two really do make the most adorable couple.
We're used to seeing Kerry in timeless, classic gowns, but she opted for something more modern this time around - and we're not sure it worked. Leather and chiffon aren't two materials we would put together ourselves, and the monochrome pairing just looked a little too harsh.
Everyone's favourite heartthrob Tom walked the red carpet with his wife (boo!) Charlotte - and the pair looked stunning. Tom kept it classic in a tux and, erm, sunglasses, while Charlotte opted for a flowing black gown with lace body.
