It’s inevitable that the new additions to the Bake Off tent might be feeling slightly apprehensive, as they prepare to front one of the biggest and most popular shows in the UK.
When Prue Leith, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig step into the spotlight to present and judge on The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4, they’ll be joining one of the show’s veterans, Paul Hollywood. But unfortunately, it seems one of the new members of the cast didn’t get off to the best start with the baking legend…
The Sun has reported that Paul and Noel didn’t see eye to eye when they first met, mostly because of their lack of shared hobbies.
A source told the publication, “Noel has confided in pals that he and Paul weren’t instantly on the same page.
“They’re chalk and cheese. Noel is offbeat, whereas Paul can be gruff and by-the- book. When they met, Noel realised how little they have in common.”
The source continued to say that the pair don’t particularly share the same interests…
“Paul is a total petrolhead, so to break the ice, he asked Noel if he likes cars. Noel told him he doesn’t drive.
“There were a few tumbleweed moments like that. There was never any tension but it wasn’t the love-in Paul had with Mel and Sue and Mary Berry.”
It’s fair to say that the pair don’t appear like the most likely of friends. But upon Noel’s appointment on the show, Paul did previously say that he’s a “big fan” of Noel.
And the two of them definitely seem to be getting on better nowadays – given that Paul posted a picture to social media of the two of them enjoying a night out!
Reportedly, Paul and Noel had just enjoyed a night on the town in London, with Paul captioning the image “Catching up with Noel…”
Whatever the state of their friendship now, there are sure to be some funny moments between these two when the new series airs later this year!
