Princess Margaret, the Queen's younger sister and only sibling, was famed for her elegant and glamorous sense of style. The royal's wardrobe and perfectly kept appearance weren't the only thing people admired—her personal jewelry collection was astounding too.
According to Tatler, the Queen's sister was one of the few in the firm to eschew the family's vault of stunning jewels. Instead, she amassed her own collection of stunning pieces—one of which is expected to fetch up to £40,000 ($55,500) at action next month.
The bracelet was famously seen in an official photograph taken to celebrate her 19th birthday. The stunning photo was taken on July 8, 1949, by the legendary British photographer Cecil Beaton. Cecil often photographed the royal family as well as countless celebrities and people of note including Marlon Brando, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo and Jackie Kennedy.
The unique piece, which dates from around 1925, comes presented in a stunning red leather Cartier case. It's Art Deco and made with a double row of cultured pearls and circular-cut diamonds. It's to be sold as a part of Dix Noonan Webb’s Jewellery, Watches, and Objects of Vertu auction on September 14 in London’s swanky Mayfair. Discussing the royal piece, the auction house's head of jewelry and associate director, said, "We are delighted to be selling this exquisite Art Deco diamond and cultured pearl bracelet which was formerly the property of HRH Princess Margaret." She added, "This is a rare opportunity to purchase a very personal piece of Royal history with an impeccable provenance."
With only weeks until the auction, which also features a stunning oval-cut Burmese sapphire ring of approximately 6.20 carats, in a stunning claw setting—now might be the time to treat yourself to a bit of royal history!
