Prince William Birthday Celebrations: How Will He Spend His 35th Birthday?

Happy Birthday to the Duke of Cambridge! As the prince celebrates his 35th birthday, we look at how he will be spending the special day…

William is expected to spend his 35th birthday privately with his wife, The Duchess of Cambridge, and their two children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Luckily the weather is still bright with temperatures set to remain
high, so it could be the perfect day for a little family picnic, just like
the one in Prince William’s GQ shoot.

However, the Duke of Cambridge attended Royal Ascot yesterday (20 June) and was joined by several royals. Many are speculating that this was a public pre-celebration of the Prince’s birthday. And while there, Catherine paid a lovely tribute to her husband with a small detail in her Ascot outfit. Having opted for a summery white lace gown with a delicate high-neckline, she subtly paired the dress with a pair of pearl drop earrings. Pearl is the birthstone for people born in June and, of course, it is William’s birthday today, on the 21 June. If the pairing was intentional then it cetainly was a lovely gesture.

It was the first of many birthday celebrations this month for the royals of course. At the weekend the family-of-four joined by the rest of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the annual Trooping the Colour display in honour of The Queen’s official 91st birthday. Once again Prince George and Princess Charlotte stole the show, especially in their adorable retro-inspired outfits.

It is thought that this, his 35th birthday, may well be one of the last birthdays the Prince can enjoy privately. As his duties increase the amount of family time he has is sure to be squeezed.

This year he is making some major changes to his daily life by becoming a full-time royal. Prince George is due to start school in September. And Later this summer he will finish his job as an air ambulance helicopter pilot and
will move away from the countryside and into Kensington Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have stepped up the number of royal duties they are taking on in an effort to help the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, who is due to retire from public duties in the autumn.

In 2016 the Queen and Prince Philip undertook 551 combined public engagements while Prince William completed 188. William’s first ever official public engagement was on March 1 1991 when he joined his parents, the Prince of Wales and Princess Diana, on a trip to Wales on St David’s Day.

Prince William is second in line to the throne and was born at 9.03pm on June 21 1982. He weighed 7lb 11/2 oz.
