Kate Garraway has shared a very sweet story about the moment she left the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
The Good Morning Britain host put herself through the ultimate reality TV test at the end of last year when she headed into the Australian wilderness with a bunch of other famous faces.
Having spent three weeks in the jungle with the likes of Caitlyn Jenner, Jacqueline Jossa and Nadine Coyle, Kate was finally freed from camp, finishing in fourth place.
Now, the telly favourite has shared details on the lovely moment she was reunited with her husband, Derek Draper.
She revealed that her political advisor husband had a plan to surprise her by getting down on one knee and asking her to renew her vows to him.
However, Kate shared that he got too emotional and forgot to make the grand gesture initially.
Luckily, Kate and Derek’s kids, Darcey, 13, and William, ten, were on hand to give him a nudge.
“You’re told you can’t take any jewellery into the jungle. I didn’t want to take my wedding ring off, as I never have since we got married. But I did take my engagement ring off,” Kate told You magazine.
“When Derek came to meet me after I left the jungle, he was planning to propose to me again [with the ring, in front of the TV cameras], but he got overwhelmed and burst into tears.
“The kids leapt out and surprised me, and Darcey said, ‘Oh Dad – you didn’t do it!’ So he got down on one knee and proposed… and I said yes, obviously.”
The GMB star explained that it was an emotional moment for her and her husband, after realising whilst in the jungle what a ‘connection’ they have. She said, “Sometimes, when you’ve been married for a long time, you almost forget what brought you together in the first place. And actually with all those people in camp, much as I loved them, it reminded me exactly why I’m with Derek. There were things I’d say that perhaps other people wouldn’t get and I realised what a connection Derek and I have.”
Adorably, Kate and Derek are now planning to renew their vows, 15 years after first marrying.
After returning to civilisation and spending time catching up with her loved ones, Kate shared a series of adorable snaps of her and her family.
In one touching image, Kate’s children can be seen embracing their mum in a huge cuddle.
‘Mummy is finally home 😘❤️🤗 #ImACeleb #TeamKate #KateGarraway #ImACelebrity,’ Kate penned beside the emotional upload.
