Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper is currently battling the coronavirus.
The Good Morning Britain host has reportedly been “sick with worry” since Derek was admitted to hospital on Monday and later diagnosed with Covid-19.
Derek, who shares children Darcey, 14, and William, ten, with presenter Kate, is being treated in an intensive care unit.
Meanwhile, Kate is self-isolating having developed mild symptoms of the highly contagious virus.
A spokesperson for Kate and Derek explained, “Kate's husband, Derek Draper, has been taken to hospital and is being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of COVID-19. He was admitted on Monday and has since tested positive for the virus.
“Kate, hasn't been tested, however she has also been displaying mild symptoms, also since Monday, and as a result has been on strict isolation with her children at home.”
This news comes after Kate spoke live on GMB about her concerns, following a meeting with Prince Charles, who recently tested positive for coronavirus.
The I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star explained that she and the royal had come “relatively close” when they met at the Prince’s Trust Awards on the 11th of March.
Kate’s telly colleagues have taken to social media to send their love to Derek and Kate in light of the tough situation.
Piers Morgan headed to Twitter to share his worry and send his support, penning, ‘Now it’s been made public, I can say this horrendous situation has brought the Coronavirus crisis sharply into the hearts of all of us @GMB My love & prayers to Kate & Derek.’
Susanna Reid simply wrote, ‘All my love to Kate and Derek.’
Lots of Kate's fans responded to the bad news too in order to send their kind words.
'Thinking of you@kategarraway wishing your husband a speedy recovery,' wrote one.
'Lots of love to all of them,' added a second.
We are thinking of Derek, Kate and their family during this worrying time and hope he gets better soon.
