Last weekend’s return of Strictly Come Dancing has brought with it the usual bout of Strictly fever! If you’ve ever wondered what the starting points for ballroom dancing are, wonder no longer as professional couple Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara give us their expert tips.
They’ve covered all of the basics for you to try; from the correct hold and posture to footwork and knowing the difference between using your heels and toes. For Janette, having good rhythm is also key: “Steps and posture can be taught if you put the effort in, but the most difficult part is understanding the counts in the music”. If that all sounds a bit nerve-wracking, don’t worry! Even the professionals experience nerves, and as Aljaz says, “I think when you don’t get nervous, that’s when something is wrong – it shows you care”.
One lucky woman&home couple were given a special lesson with Janette and Aljaz in this month’s issue – and were left feeling “on top of the world!” Watch the video below, then read about their experience, and find even more tips from the Strictly professionals, in this month’s issue – out now.
