A body language expert weighs in on Dominic West's body language with wife, Catherine
Could you forgive a kiss?
Dominic West and his wife Catherine put on a united front outside their home just days after photos leaked of him kissing his co-star Lily James, 31, during a romantic Rome break.
As actor Dominic West declares "our marriage is strong" as he puts on a united front with wife Catherine Fitzgerald, we wonder if there is more to the PDA than what meets the eye?
The 50-year-old star was pictured kissing his 31-year-old co-star Lily James on a romantic break in Rome. The pair know each other, having filmed together in an adaptation of Nancy Mitford's novel The Pursuit Of Love.
And in a bid to set the record straight, both Dominic and his wife addressed the press to confirm that they were still together.
Speaking at their Wiltshire cottage, Dominic, star of The Affair, said, 'I just want to say our marriage is strong and we are very much still together.'
Meanwhile his wife, held a tissue and a piece of paper which had the statement written which he read. The pair puckered up for a kiss for the cameras - but Dominic, who married Catherine in 2010 - didn't appear to be wearing his wedding ring.
What does Dominic West and his wife's body language tell us?
Our body language expert Judi James gives us her analysis of the bizarre press call to see whether the public display of affection is really what it's made out to be.

Judy said, 'Those awkward smiles and very self-conscious kisses mean it’s a revival of that vintage body language ritual known as the ‘Denial Pose’ from Dominic West and his wife Catherine.

She continued, 'These rituals rarely work in reality as genuine signals of fondness and affection tend to be more subtle and less photogenic. It’s those small exchanged glances and grins, plus the face-changing ‘look of love’ that make us go weak at the knees rather than PDAs that are performed for the cameras, like this one.'
Does Dominic's wife want to move on?
But Judi has spotted signs that his wife Catherine is keen to move forward in a united way, she described, 'Having said that, it’s clear from Catherine’s intentional gestures that she is keen to signal ongoing trust and devotion. She presses her torso against her husband’s and her eye-attention is on him as she stretches up for the kiss.'
Meanwhile less can be said about Dominic, who Judi described as looking "less cheery about the whole ritual". She added, 'Walking out behind Catherine wearing a frown and with his hand in his pocket in a gesture that is normally linked to a desire to hide. His one raised brow looks cynical, as does his lop-sided smile at the press.'
A confident kiss from Dominic?
As singer Cher would sing, 'How can you tell if he loves me so? ....it's in his kiss, that's where it is...'
But when it comes to the pair puckering up, Judi noted, 'The kiss is more of a pressing of closed lips against chin or upper lip and the Wests do seem to be sharing a joke as his eye and mouth-wrinkles here suggest he is smiling. Dominic’s inner confidence does seem to be intact though, from the way he has puffed his chest and turned it towards the camera during his PDA with his wife.'
Meanwhile Lily posted to Instagram on October 3 to confirm she had almost finished filming on the movie that starred Dominic. Will his marriage still be as strong post-press conference? Only time will tell...
