Sometimes the most simple dress designs pack the biggest punch. The simple shape sculpted Diane's silhouette perfectly - and her super-toned torso was certainly up to the challenge.
Regular woman&home cover star Helen Mirren is always top of our list when it comes to elegant dressing. She wore this lemon yellow chiffon gown to the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and while the colour choice can prove challenging, in this case it was instantly youth-enhancing and flattering.
In 2012 Kylie promoted her movie Holy Motors at Cannes and the singer embraced a truly feminine style in a stunning pastel blue Roberto Cavalli gown.
Back in 2006 Halle Berry wore her hair long which complemented her Reem Acra gown beautifully. The plunging metallic bodice was offset with an etheral chiffon skirt that stopped onlookers in their tracks!
The A-list newcomer Jessica Chastain was a red carpet knock-out in 2012 in a Gucci Premiere nude gown with a liquid gold sequinned bodice. Ethereal, other-worldly, however you choose to describe Jessica, the look is breathtaking!
While it may not have been to everyone's taste, Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto sported a striking Michael Angel gown at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Combining a rainbow sequinned bodice with a bold peplum waist and thigh-split pastel pink skirt, Freida is one of few actresses who could pull this look off. We salute her for it though - a welcome break from the sea of traditional floor-sweeping frocks.
A consistent high-flier on the Cannes red carpet, Diane Kruger captured the film world again in 2012 in a beautiful asymmetric aqua couture gown by Giambattista Valli.
Sometimes it's best to let your dress (and your gorgeous husband) do the talking. Angelina Jolie's 2009 Versace frock was simple yet sexy, with a subtle wrap design and a signature daring slit.

They say never wear red down the red carpet, but luckily Emily Blunt was walking a grey one! She wore a sultry red lip to compliment this beautiful George Chakra Edition gown in 2010.
Kate Beckinsale knows not to swamp her small frame with complicated designs. Her 2010 black ruffled dress hugged her petite figure, complimented by simple silver jewels.
Diane Kruger is always a hit when it comes to red carpet gowns. She took a risk with this black and fuchsia Jason Wu frock in 2010 and it definitely paid off - even if it did clash with the carpet!
There wasn't a hint of the desperate housewife about Eva Longoria as she strutted her stuff in this gem-encrusted gown at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Never one to shy away from the limelight, Eva turned plenty of heads, despite not having a film at the festival!

Gathered at the waist and falling away into a silk chiffon skirt, we adore the brighter colour choice for Angelina's red carpet moment.
