Chrissy Teigen reveals how her miscarriage was a 'transformative experience'
Chrissy Teigen has opened up about the painful loss of her son, Jack
Chrissy Teigen has opened up about her recent miscarriage, calling the experience a ‘transformative thing.’
The supermodel and media personality, who lost her unborn son last October after pregnancy complications, detailed the grieving process in an emotional interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Monday.
Calling in from her New York apartment via a Zoom meeting, Chrissy candidly discussed the ups and downs of her recovery with the talk show host.
“I go through my closet and … there are outfits, full maternity clothes, things that I bought for my eighth month and my ninth month,” she revealed.
This week has been particularly tough for Chrissy and her husband, John Legend, as it would have marked the birth of their third child, Jack.
“It’s hard because he would have been born this week. You look at those things and you have these constant reminders of them,” she said.

A few weeks after sharing the news of her miscarriage in a heart-wrenching post with her 34m followers on Instagram, Chrissy recorded the full experience in a detailed public essay on Medium. “My mom, John and I each held him and said our own private goodbyes, mom sobbing through Thai prayer. I asked the nurses to show me his hands and feet and I kissed them over and over and over again,” she wrote.
Despite her anguish, Chrissy is trying her best to cope with the loss by constantly expressing her emotions.
“I’m still in therapy and I'm still coming to terms with it,” she told Ellen.
The courageous mother also credits her heritage for empowering her throughout this difficult journey.

“Being Thai and being raised in a house that was very open about loss, I think was really helpful,” she said.
Rather than focus on the agony of the experience, Chrissy has found a way to embrace its silver lining. Having previously spoken about her struggles with alcohol in the past, the socialite believes Jack has motivated her to seek mental health treatment and embrace a sober lifestyle.
“It was a really transformative thing for me, in a way he really saved me,” she said. “I don’t think I would have discovered therapy and then sobriety and this path of really feeling good about myself and feeling like a new person.”
