If you thought Juvederm could help you look fresher, wouldn’t you want to know more?

The promise of a fresher, more vibrant version of ourselves is pretty much every woman’s dream, which is why more and more of us considering facial fillers to put some natural looking volume back into our complexions. Expert aesthetics practitioner Alison Telfer, who regularly treats patients with Juvéderm facial fillers, explains how they work…

Facial fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs
in our bodies. As we get older, our store of this diminishes, leaving the skin less well supported so lines and wrinkles develop. Injecting a facial filler in small amounts under the skin can lift and smooth targeted folds and wrinkles by replenishing
and adding subtle volume.

It’s relatively painless due to the local anaesthetic that’s added to some products and should only take 5-10 minutes once you’ve had a thorough consultation. Immediately after, the treated area may feel numb, due to the anaesthetic. It may also appear slightly red and feel a little tender or tight, but these feelings usually subside within a few hours.

Interested? There are clinics all over the country offering facial filler treatments, and finding the right practitioner for you is simple with Juvéderm’s handy online tool, at this-is-me.

You can find more about local practitioners, see before and after photographs and read customer testimonials, so you can feel confident you’re in the very best of hands.

“A good consultation should last between 45 and 60 minutes,” explains Alison. “It allows us to determine why the patient is seeking treatment, address any concerns and create a tailored treatment plan with realistic results. Your face will be examined, your skin type and degree of sun damage will be assessed. The key to a successful, subtle, natural-looking outcome is for the practitioner to choose the correct type of facial filler for a specific area.

So how long do they last? “Temporary fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally and is broken down over time. Juvéderm facial fillers can last for up to 18-24 months depending on the product, with the effects subtly softening over time. It’s then up to you whether you choose to ‘top up’ with further treatments.

And, most importantly – how safe are they? “Juvéderm facial fillers are meticulously clinically tested and, when administered by a qualified practitioner, very well accepted by the skin. Side effects are rare but can include tenderness, swelling and bruising
on the injection site – this is usually temporary and clears within a few days.
