Did you know that the nation's favourite costume drama Downton Abbey was nominated for an Emmy Award yesterday?
The ITV1 show, which also shows in the States, will be pitched against US series Mad Men, Homeland, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire for the best drama award.
The third series kicks off this autumn - with Hollywood actress Shirley MacLaine joining the cast as the outspoken mother of Cora Crawley - so we can expect a few ripples as she clashes with Maggie Smith's Countess Crawley. But if we're honest, haven't we all been tuning in for the last two series just to see Lady Mary and Matthew get it together? And now that they finally have, won't Downton lose its appeal?
So does it deserve the award? Or has Downton had its day?
