Just when you thought we had reached peak nail art, along comes a new take on the trend that’s chic, sophisticated and best of all, simple to achieve.

Metallic and chrome nails are set to be huge for Autumn/Winter 16, and rightly so – there’s nothing like a hint of glint on your nails to show you’re ready for a party, and light-reflecting tones are flattering to just about every complexion. Metallics are perfect for special occasions too – go for something super shiny and opulent and you won’t even need to wear jewellery! With that in mind, we bring you five foolproof nail art looks that all work that cool metallic trend without looking overdone.
You might think nail art is too tricky or time consuming to achieve at home, but guess what? Thanks to nail pro Jenni Draper, it has just become a whole lot easier. Read on for expert Jenni’s top tips to perfect the very best at-home techniques:
Jenni Draper’s Tips
  • Be prepared! Have an old lip brush and some acetone ready to help clean up any mistakes, they’re inevitable.
  • Work on a stable surface so you have something to rest your hand on, this should help you keep things as neat as possible.
  • Don’t be too uniform with a design – they often look more fun and less try hard when applied randomly.
  • Leave enough time between coats to ensure that each one is dry – a little tedious, but also essential!
  • If you are using two polishes, use the quick drying one over the top. This will prevent ‘crinkling’ from happening.
