DVD: 127 Hours

Director Danny Boyle’s latest cinematic offering is an intense, nail-biting thrill ride

Based on true events, 127 Hours follows American mountain climber Aron Ralston, played by James Franco, as he indulges in his adrenaline junkie pursuits around Blue John Canyon in Utah.

One-morning, Ralston ventures out to the canyon without letting anyone know where he is going. He slips down a crevice and ends up with his arm trapped between the canyon edge and a boulder, unable to free himself.

Over the next five days (127 hours) we see Ralston reflect on his past as he tries to come to terms with what he must do to survive.

In his usual outstanding form, Boyle has once again created a masterpiece that resulted in James Franco being nominated for Best Actor at the 2011 Oscars and the film being nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year.
