Delia Smith interview
I have three passions in life: I am passionate about my religious belief, about football – and about food.
I've never seen myself as a wonderful cook, but I do like the communication aspect of what I do. I think people understand that I am trying to help them learn how to cook. When I was learning, I devoured certain cookery books, like the works of Elizabeth David, Robert Carrier and Katie Stewart. But sometimes I felt there was a lot missing.
My perfect weekend would consist of going to a football match that we won. Then coming home and relaxing, and having friends and family over for a fantastic Sunday lunch cooked by Michael. Then reading all the papers. I'm happiest at home.
