M&S has launched new £10 Rosé Prosecco just in time for Christmas

It seems that M&S have once more got us covered as we look ahead to the festive season this year. With December on the horizon, there’s never been a better excuse to treat yourself to a little something special. When it comes to a celebratory bottle, prosecco and rosé are always popular choices. Perfect for everything from a relaxing evening in, to a Zoom catch-up with friends or even a thoughtful gift, the difficulty is choosing which to go for. 

But now we no longer have to, as M&S’s brand new launch brilliantly combines the two.

What is Rosé Prosecco? 

With the same floral and fruity notes as traditional prosecco, M&S Rosé Prosecco also has delicate red berry flavours which is sure to delight fans of both. Rosé Prosecco is made from the prosecco grape Glera with an addition of at least 10% Pinot Noir which gives the wine its blushing pink colour. 

However there are strict regulations set out by the ‘Consorzio di Tutela’ which must be followed before the final sparkling rose can be called rose prosecco.

The wine must come from one single harvest to produce a vintage wine. This is followed by 60 days of slow fermentation to increase complexity.

And if that wasn’t strict enough, only one grape will do. Pinot Noir as the only red grape variety allowed to give the delicate pink colour and red fruits aroma.

Where is Rosé Prosecco made? 

Traditionally rose sparkling wine has always been produced in the north east of Italy. Though despite this region being the home of prosecco, it was not allowed to be called that. But after the astonishing success of regular prosecco around the world, crafting a Rosé under the prestigious D.O.C denomination made perfect sense. This requires that a wine satisfy a defined quality standard, and be produced within the specified region.

The M&S Rosé Prosecco is made by producer Masottina, owned by the Del Bianco family. The family has already worked closely with M&S over the years to blend their exclusive prosecco in their state-of-the-art winery. 

Where can I buy Rosé Prosecco? 

The M&S Rosé Prosecco is available in 75cl standard sizes and is priced at just £10. That's an M&S bargain if ever there was one. Keep a look out the next time you’re browsing the shelves as this delicious new launch is now available in all stores nationwide and online in a case of 6 bottles. 

And if you find yourself developing a taste for it, never fear as later this month, M&S have announced they will also be introducing a range of sizes in store.

Looking for a Christmas 2020 gift?

From 17th November, customers will also be able to purchase mini 20cl bottles and 1.5L magnums.
