We think this delicious dish takes on even more flavour if cooked over a charcoal barbecue. Charring the edges of the meat ever so slightly gives a wonderful smokiness and you can’t beat the texture of crisped edges and soft meat on the inside, it’s a real winner.
Souvlaki is a traditional Greek way to serve chicken, as well as other meats and vegetables. The word souvlaki means ‘skewer’ and the dish consists of cubes of meat and vegetables grilled on a skewer, which are then often served with pitta bread and tzatziki and salad or potatoes. You can try making your own tzatziki, a herby yoghurt dip, but you can also find it pre-made in most supermarkets.
These Greek kebabs are fresh and packed with flavour, and couldn’t be easier to make. Try this recipe for chicken souvlaki at your next barbecue or picnic.
