This Christmas is going to be a strange one, we’ll all be staying in, there will be no parties but that doesn’t mean we can’t still raise a glass of prosecco, pass around the chocolates and turn on some festive TV.
These Christmas TV favourites are bringing the perfect amount of distraction and Christmas cheer to your screens...
The Great Christmas Bake off - Christmas Eve 7:40pm Channel 4
Bake off is back, with all the festive trimmings! Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith and Matt Lucas are all returning along with many familiar faces from past seasons. Tom Allen will replace Noel Fielding for the Christmas special and Alexandra Burke will be giving a performance of Silent night. The returning bakers are Jamie Finn, Rosie Brandreth- Poynter, Ruby Bhogal and James Hillary all baking it out for the much coveted Christmas Star Baker title and cake stand.
If the Christmas special wasn’t good enough news alone, Bake off is returning yet again on the 3rd of January for another new year special. Don’t worry, Noel will be back for the New Year Bake off.
Taskmaster's New Years treat - New Year’s Day, 9pm, Channel 4
The cult favourite celebrity game show is returning for a new year special. Equipped with an array of star studded contestants, John Hannah, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Rylan Clark-Neal, Shirley Ballas and Nicola Coughlan, will all compete for the coveted gold statue of Greg’s head.
Gogglebox 2020 - Christmas Day, 9.10pm, Channel 4
Gogglebox will be giving us a round up of all the greatest shows and dramas that graced our screens this year. At least the tv was better than the reality this year.
Miranda’s games with showbiz names - Christmas Eve, 9.45pm, BBC One
Miranda will be reminding us all of the times we attempted a quiz over zoom with a bad internet connection, but at least she’ll have some celeb guests. Jermaine Jenas, Shirley Ballas and Robbie Williams will join Miranda for what is sure to be a festive treat.
Big fat quiz of the year 2020 - Boxing Day, 9:05pm, Channel 4
The traditional boxing day quiz hosted by Jimmy Carr is back for 2020! With a new group of comedians and entertainers alongside regular panellists David Mitchell and Richard Ayoade, to reflect on the year we have had.
The Last Woman on Earth With Sara Pascoe - Sunday 27 December, 9pm, BBC Two
This series will follow Sarah Pascoe exploring the world and investigating the most endangered jobs in the world such as gunsmiths and ice carvers. This is sure to be a hilarious and interesting watch!
Stephen Fry’s 21st Century Firsts - Wednesday 30 December, 8.30pm, ITV
A documentary with Stephen Fry exploring tech and inventions we now take for granted, and how the ideas for technology we use everyday came about.
